Insane Clown Posse: Miracles.

Post by Psychic Robot »

I'm assuming it's already been posted, but it deserves its own thread.
If magic is all we've ever know
Then it's easy to miss what really goes on
But I've seen miracles in every way
And I see miracles everyday
Oceans spanning beyond my sight
And a million stars way above em at night
We don't have to be high to look in the sky
And know that's a miracle opened wide
Look at the mountains, trees, the seven seas
And everything chilling underwater, please
Hot lava, snow, rain and fog
Long neck giraffes, and pet cats and dogs
And I've seen eighty-five thousand people
All in one room, together as equals

Pure magic is the birth of my kids
I've seen shit that'll shock your eyelids
The sun and the moon, and even Mars
The Milky Way and fucking shooting stars
UFOs, a river flows
Plant a little seed and nature grows
Niagara falls and the pyramids
Everything you believed in as kids
Fucking rainbows after it rains
there's enough miracles here to blow your brains
I fed a fish to a pelican at Frisco bay
It tried to eat my cell phone, he ran away
And music is magic, pure and clean
You can feel it and hear it but it can't be seen

Music is all magic
(Are you a believer in miracles)
You can't even hold it
(Do you notice and recognize miracles)
it's just there in the air
(Are you a believer in miracles)
Pure motherfucking magic Right?
This shit'll blow your fucking mind
(Do you notice and recognize miracles)

Music is a lot like love, it's all a feeling
And it fills the room, from the floor to the ceiling
I see miracles all around me
Stop and look around, it's all astounding
Water, fire, air and dirt
Fucking magnets, how do they work?

And I don't wanna talk to a scientist
Y'all motherfuckers lying, and getting me pissed
Solar eclipse, and vicious weather
Fifteen thousand Juggalos together
And I love my mom for giving me this
Time on this planet, taking nothing for granted
I seen a caterpillar turn into a butterfly
Miracles ain't nothing to lie
Shaggy's little boys look just like Shaggy
And my little boy looks just like daddy

Miracles each and every where you look
And nobody has to stay where they put
This world is yours for you to explore
there's nothing but miracles beyond your door
The Dark Carnival is your invitation
To witness that without explanation
Take a look at this fine creation
And enjoy it better with appreciation
Crows, ghosts, the midnight coast
The wonders of the world, mysteries the most
Just open your mind, and it ain't no way
To ignore the miracles of every day

(Are you a believer in miracles)
Magic everywhere in this bitch
(Do you notice and recognize miracles)
it's all around you, you don't even know it
(Are you a believer in miracles) Shit's crazy
(Do you notice and recognize miracles,
So many miracles, the magic miracles)

Are you a believer in miracles
Do you have time for the miracles
Do you notice and recognize miracles
So many miracles, the magic miracles
Are you a believer in miracles
Do you have time for the miracles
Do you notice and recognize miracles
So many miracles, the magic miracles
Are you a believer in miracles
Do you have time for the miracles
Do you notice and recognize miracles
So many miracles, the magic miracles
Are you a believer in miracles
Do you have time for the miracles
Do you notice and recognize miracles
So many miracles, the magic miracles
A high-school education pretty much answers the majority of these. Though, thanks to this song, I decided to look up exactly how magnets work, and now I know more about electron spin fields.

"Fucking magnets, how do they work?" is the best meme I've ever watched be created.

Yeah, we've discussed this one before. But it does indeed need its own thread. There has been some discussion about whether this is some epic trolling or just incredibly stupid. Unfortunately it seems to be "real" and of course... really stupid.

I could almost see it as them waxing poetic on the beauty inherent in everything, like a really weird version of Poetry of Reality, but I'm convinced otherwise when the song goes:
And I don't wanna talk to a scientist
Y'all motherfuckers lying, and getting me pissed

Remember when Michael Jackson did Heal the World and we were all "This is the guy who did Bad, how can this not be a joke?"
Insane Clown Posse Interview wrote:With Bang! Pow! Boom! you have decided to revisit ICP’s storytelling ways of the Dark Carnival and team up with Mike E. Clark. What was this process like?
It felt wonderful. That’s what we’re most comfortable with. We gave Mike E. Clark more input on this album than we ever have previously. We wanted it to be a team effort. When we recorded the Tempest we felt like we were taking it seriously but it was nothing compared to Bang! Pow! Boom! With Bang! Pow! Boom! we stopped smoking weed while we were recording and we drank hot tea before every studio session.
And then, if you really want to see the retarded, you can try to figure out what the hell they are talking about when they explain the whole album:

Warning: Incredibly Stupid

I'm going to echo virgileso.

Being an enormous pacifist and sap I could appreciate it until the famous line. At least, the message was, "we're surrounded by really cool stuff all the time and it's all amazing". Very Zen. I can dig that.

And then.

"And I don't wanna talk to a scientist
Y'all motherfuckers lying, and getting me pissed"

And then it was just all so very sad and pathetic.

You know, in a way this actually makes me want to become a fan of ICP.

In much the same way that I am a fan of Bleach, 3rd Edition D&D, and ST: Voyager.

That line was anti-intellecualism at it's purest, complaining about science taking the magic out of the world. For what I percieve as a bunch of radical anarchist, it sure does meet right back up with the most extreme religious conservative.

The Fighter is intended to be, like the Wizard, a character who can and does adapt their tactics to the opposition and draws upon player experience to deliver tactical victories. And to do it without "feeling" like it was using Magic.

...

So honestly, when someone tells me "I know the game backwards and forwards, and when I pull out all the stops with the Fighter I totally win!" And my response is "OK, good." Because that's exactly what people report with the Wizard too.

Apparently they're pushing Christian Evangelicalism under the clown paint. Which seems ridiculous, honestly. To attack progressive, secular positions as intolerant of their clown paint?

It just makes me sad.

You're managing to turn laughing at ICP into political whining. Let's not do that.

The SNL parody wasn't actually as funny as the actual video. I guess you can't make the perfect joke better.

I don't think referring to the universe (or the world) as a creation, in and of itself, is a bad thing, unless you believe that the universe had no definite beginning, i.e. that the Big Bang did not happen. We don't really have a problem with saying even inanimate objects can create certain things, most days. Likewise, I don't believe referring to the world as miraculous is inappropriate...

Pretending that science has nothing to do with it and cannot explain it, on the other hand, and this means that a God must have done something...

Fucking lies, how do they work?

Poets have been complaining that science has been taking the magic out of the world since the 18th century, so ICP's sentiment is not new.

Personally, I find this extremely ironic because the more science I have learned, the more mysterious and magical the world seems. I mean, just look at the biology of deep sea creatures or the intricacies of genetic inheritance.

EDIT - Honestly, the "magic" in the world one perceives is independent of their knowledge and wholly a function of their imagination. A rainbow is magical as a beautiful physical phenomena or as a bridge to Asgard... the trouble is when you're expecting Asgard and then someone explains why that's not actually the case and you're left without the moorings you'd been relying on.

Either it's a really long troll, or they're really Christian music.

I dunno. At this point, they have one point for them, and three strikes against.
